Widgets versus destinations

start.me can become a live portal with feeds, calendars, tasks, notes, financial data, embeds, and integrations. SpeedGrid brings only a compact forecast into the header and makes visual cards, grids, folders, and search the center of the page.

Pages and columns versus grids and folders

start.me places widgets in resizable columns across separate pages. SpeedGrid creates a more app-like hierarchy: switch grids, group related grids inside folders, and keep a primary and secondary destination on one card.

Portal configuration versus visual profiles

Choose start.me for public collections, shared pages, team workspaces, custom subdomains, SSO, member permissions, and usage analytics. SpeedGrid is currently designed around an individual signed-in workspace.

Pricing context

The paid plans reflect two different scopes.

start.me’s current free plan includes three ad-supported pages and basic widgets. Personal PRO is $25 per year for unlimited pages, no ads or ad tracking, premium widgets, AI tools, and advanced bookmark features. SpeedGrid’s core experience is free. Founding Plus members renew at $10 per year while subscribed; regular Plus is $20 per year afterward.
