Common questions

Find the detail you need.

Scan the questions below, then open any answer for the full explanation.

What does the browser extension do?

In Chrome, Edge, or Brave, it opens SpeedGrid on every new tab. The dedicated Firefox add-on renders a local new-tab interface and syncs it only with SpeedGrid’s own domains. Safari can open the responsive SpeedGrid web app as its new-tab homepage without an extension. None of these options requests browsing-history permission or monitors unrelated websites.

Can one tile open more than one place?

Yes. Every tile can hold two named destinations—such as Live and Local, Client and Admin, or any pairing that makes sense to you.

Do my grids sync?

Yes. Your signed-in SpeedGrid account saves bookmarks, grids, ordering, and preferences so they follow you across browsers and devices.

How many grids and folders can I create?

Free includes up to 3 grids and 1 folder. Plus supports up to 30 grids and 20 folders. Every folder can hold up to 5 grids so its switcher stays clean. If Plus ends, existing grids and folders stay safe and editable; you simply cannot add more until you are back under the Free limit or upgrade again.

What is included with Plus?

Plus expands organization to 30 grids and 20 folders, then adds gradients, abstract and scenic backgrounds, animated effects, the Matrix preset, the complete font collection, uploaded artwork, read-only calendar connections, live header weather, saved profiles, and automatic restore points. Three grids, one folder, the core bookmark tools, and all solid colors stay free.

How does weather work?

SpeedGrid Plus can show current conditions in the header for your current or chosen location. Hover or focus the forecast to see the high, low, rain chance, wind, cloud cover, UV index, sunrise, and sunset. The detail folds away when you are done, keeping the dashboard focused on your destinations.

How do calendar connections work?

Open Calendar settings and choose Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or another ICS provider. Google can connect with read-only account access. Pasted iCal links are tested before they are saved and masked afterward. SpeedGrid cannot create, change, or delete calendar events. Apple’s subscription-link method makes that calendar available to anyone who obtains its URL, so privacy-conscious users may prefer a separate calendar containing only the events they want shown in SpeedGrid.

Can I cancel Plus?

Yes. Open Preferences, choose Billing, and use Manage or cancel billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current annual billing period, so Plus remains available through the time you already paid for. Founding members who remain subscribed renew at $10 per year; regular Plus is $20 per year after the founding offer closes.

Which logo files work best?

Transparent PNG files usually look best. JPEG is also supported. Plus members can upload their own artwork; free accounts can use a favicon or short label.
